1. Pre-Design Milestone
This review helps you reach a higher level of quality and completeness of systems analysis in preparation for design and generation of systems (using CASE tools like Designer2000 or without the use of CASE). Our focus includes cross-checking and validating data models, and reviewing and verifying the completeness of function hierarchies or other process and data documentation in preparation for translation into database, application designs and general systems / software architecture. Can include the identification of potential business process improvements if desired. The QA of the data model includes quality checking of entity structures, relationships, attributes, normalization, data integration, overlapping of entities and subtypes; it can also include a QA of attribute optionality, domains, UID uniqueness. Options depend on time available and scope.
Timeline: Recommend three to six days, depending on project scope.
2. CASE Tools and Techniques Effectiveness Review
In adopting complex CASE tools like Oracle's Designer2000, or for any shift involving structured systems development techniques, project staff often need more than a few weeks of training or exposure to reach the expertise needed for successful projects. This quality assurance review looks at a project's usage of CASE tools, structured techniques and preferred methods, and identifies potential problems in the systems development life cycle due to incomplete or ineffective adoption of these technologies. We provide training recommendations and other approaches to help you close the gaps and maximize effectiveness for a greater return on your investment.
Timeline: Recommend five to eight days, depending on scope and team size.
3. Pre-Generation Milestone
In this quality assurance review, we identify and flag potential problems in your systems / software architecture and database design designs — before you go on to create the tables, indexes and views based on those designs, and generate or develop the ensuing applications. This review is highly recommended as a last-stop cross-check before you go on to build systems, regardless of the technology to be used in the end result.
Timeline: Recommend three to six days, depending on project scope.
